Athena Home Control (“Athena”) is a home control application designed to work with a user’s own Home Assistant installation. Athena provides an interface for accessing and controlling compatible smart-home devices and services connected to Home Assistant.
To provide its functionality, Athena may access information from your Home Assistant installation, including device names, entity states, room assignments, climate information, security system status, camera streams, and other smart-home information made available by your Home Assistant server.
Athena may also request access to certain features or information on your Apple device when necessary to provide features you choose to use.
Athena requires connection information and authentication credentials to communicate with your Home Assistant installation.
These credentials are used by Athena to establish a connection directly between your device and the Home Assistant server you configure. Athena does not operate a cloud service that receives or stores your Home Assistant credentials.
Smart-home information displayed by Athena is obtained from the Home Assistant installation configured by the user.
Athena does not operate a centralized cloud service that collects or stores your Home Assistant device states, entity information, room configuration, security status, or other Home Assistant data.
Your Home Assistant installation and any integrations or third-party services you connect to it may have their own privacy practices. Those services are governed by their respective privacy policies.
If you configure compatible cameras through Home Assistant, Athena may access camera streams and related information so that they can be displayed within the application.
Athena does not operate a cloud service that records, collects, or stores your camera footage.
Camera manufacturers, Home Assistant integrations, or other services used to provide a camera stream may process information independently of Athena.
If you enable calendar functionality, Athena may access calendar information necessary to display events and schedules within the application.
Calendar information is used to provide the requested functionality and is not collected or stored on servers operated by Athena.
Athena may use authentication features provided by Apple, such as Face ID or Touch ID, to protect certain functionality.
Biometric information is processed by Apple’s operating system. Athena does not receive or store your biometric data.
Athena may request access to your local network to communicate with your Home Assistant installation and compatible devices or services.
Network access is used to provide Athena’s home-control functionality.
Athena does not operate an Athena cloud account or centralized backend for collecting users’ Home Assistant data.
Information necessary for Athena’s operation may be stored locally on your device.
Third-party platforms, services, integrations, or infrastructure that you independently configure for use with Athena or Home Assistant may collect or process information according to their own privacy policies.
Athena does not sell users’ personal information.
Athena does not sell or provide users’ Home Assistant information, smart-home device data, security status, camera footage, or calendar information to advertisers or data brokers.
Information stored locally by Athena may be removed by deleting the application from your device.
Information maintained by Home Assistant or third-party services must be managed through those respective systems.
Athena is a general-purpose home-control application and is not specifically directed toward children.
This Privacy Policy may be updated as Athena’s functionality changes. Any revised policy will be made available through the published Privacy Policy URL.
